My Princess Mya

Everything is back to normal now, and sigh, I still miss the holidays.  The good thing is that there will be a lot of travel for us this year.  We normally don't go anywhere big, but this year, we have a few places booked, the big one, being our first family trip to Disneyland! Yay!!!

One person I don't want to overlook is Mya, at 16 months.  She is growing out of her baby stages, and moving on into the toddler world.  I hardly see her crawling anywhere, and she's beginning to show her likes and dislikes with lots of fire and passion.  Things can get pretty heated when she doesn't get her way, and when she's tired, things seem to escalate quickly into crying.  Very loud crying.

Mya also likes to try to do what her sisters are doing, and when they break out in loud songs, she tries to too.  She can sing the "oh-oh-oh" part of Katy Perry's Roar.   The two older girls have been singing a lot of Frozen songs from the movie, and one of their favourites is "Let it Go," and Mya sings, "I know, I know!" to keep up with them.

Watching a music video
Mya is very fun to have a conversation with, she likes to respond with a lot of "yah's" and "no's," and adding lots of babble words.  Or, maybe they are words, I can hear repetitive phrases like, "what's dis," and "I know."  But, I'm pretty sure she doesn't know what the words means.

Banana for breakfast

We are currently weaning Mya off the bottle, the transition to a sippy cup hasn't been easy.  There are times where she will refuse, and push the sippy cup away.  She won't drink a lot, and will often look for her bottle, asking for "nai nai," and making the hand sign for it.  So, I bit the bullet, and put all the bottles away.  There is no going back, and it freed up a lot of counter space.  The downside is she is drinking less milk, but I think she is compensating by eating a lot more food.  She is currently more than 25 lbs.

Pasta Face!
Mya is pretty good with eating, she does like to have control.  If she is very hungry, she will allow us to feed her, but usually she likes to feed herself.  If she doesn't want something, she will refuse to eat it by shaking her head away.  One quirk about Mya is that she enjoys only smooth yogurt.  When we feed her the kind with bits of fruit, she will spit out the chunks of fruit.  Which is odd, because she loves eating fruit, especially grapes, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries...just not in her yogurt.

Death grip on a Tim Bit

Mya is also a runner.  If I take her out of the stroller for just a taste of freedom, she will run away!  Often, refusing to go back in, arching her back and throwing a fit if I try.  When she is wandering around on her own, she will not allow any hand holding, she likes to be independent, and walk where she pleases.  She is not afraid to turn corners, and try to loose you... yup, she is fast, and gone, if I am not on my toes!

Bedtime has not been great.  Mya currently still wakes up once or twice with loud crying at night.  We are having a lot of nights where she wakes up around 1:30 am and/or 4:30 am, and cry at the top of her lungs, until we pick her up.  We tried letting her cry it out to see if she would settle herself back to sleep, but it wasn't working.  It was "cry really loud, until someone picks me up"... and as soon as we picked her up, it stops!  The bad habit was when she fell asleep, she would not go back into her own bed.  And, so the cycle of crying started again.  So now, we are trying to sleep train her back to her normal pattern, and she doesn't like it.  She starts off crying when we try putting her to crib, even though we have been going through the same sleep routine.  Ugh...

Head Bands!
Mya can be pretty cranky when she wakes up, she cries at the top of her lungs, and stops right away when she is picked up.  Then she is clingy, and stays close.  Mya needs to warm up, and know what's going on before she is fully awake.  Very different from the other girls.

When Mya is in a happy mood, anything she does will melt your heart.  She likes to mimic, and she will tell you things are  "lang, lang," (pretty) or she when she sees an animal, she will tell you it's a "wow, wow" (doggy).  Mya loves to be picked up, and danced around the room.  And, finger nursery rhymes are a big hit. My little munchkin is can be so adorable, just don't get on her bad side.  She will swipe at you to back off.  So, try to stay on her good side.

Happy 2014 Everyone!

The tree, the decorations, and all the lights are down, and put away.  Sigh, I think I'm having the holiday blues...  I already miss the days that we can sleep in, spend time together, and enjoy the holiday festivities as a family.

Before we rang in the new year, we went to visit the Vancouver Aquarium with our new membership. Thanks Mom!

Someone really enjoys the aquarium...

Fun at the Touch Tank

and the belugas!

We had a family celebration at my Mom's to ring in 2014.  I didn't pull my camera out, but the girls had a great time staying up past midnight for the countdown. Even Mya, made it home without falling asleep!

Happy 2014!
 Let's start this year...

HAPPY!

Holiday Moments to Remember

Here are somethings that the girls have been up to around the house before Christmas.

Playing with Furby

Playdates and playdough

Pretend Play

And with temperatures on the plus side, we enjoyed the lights at Bright Nights at Stanley Park with both Grandmas, and Auntie Sandra.  Mya had a fabulous time, she LOVED all the lights, she was oohing and awing the whole time.

Beautiful night for lights!

And, Christmas Day was an exciting one for the girls.  The glee in their eyes as they rush down to see if Santa ate their cookies.  We hosted a family brunch, followed by opening gifts, then had dinner at my uncle's.
